Building board resilience in volatility and the role of non-executive board members

Resilience is a critical element for the sustainability of an organisation.  Governing bodies and executives have been tasked with responding to several challenges and many changes in the past several years and with continued reforms in the sector. Board resilience has never been more important as providers begin to recover and plan for the future.

This episode will explore how boards can build resilience both for the governing body members and for the provider more broadly. It will also discuss the critical role that non-executive members play in building up that board resilience and maintaining it in the face of volatility and change.

This episode features Klaus Zimmerman AM. Klaus has over 30 years extensive experience in CEO, senior executive positions and non-executive board positions including being Chair with a management/finance background. He is currently working as a non-executive Director (Deputy Chair) at Southern Cross Aged Care SA/NT/VIC Inc. and is a Founding Director & CEO of the Commonwealth Association for the Ageing Ltd. a global advocacy organisation. He was previously the Chair of Aged & Community Care Providers Association (previously known as ACSA) and recently completed 10 years’ service at the HESTA Superannuation Fund as a board member and Deputy Chair. In addition, he mentors CEO’s and senior executives across a range of industries and was awarded an Order of Australia for services to the Aged Care Sector in 2014.
